A Leading Independent UK North Sea Energy Producer

Serica Energy plc is a British independent upstream oil and gas company focused on the exploration, development and production of energy resources in the UK North Sea. Headquartered in London, with an operational presence in Aberdeen, Serica has developed into one of the UK's leading independent producers, with a diversified portfolio spanning the Bruce Hub, Triton Hub, West of Shetland and other UK North Sea assets. The company says its operations now deliver more than 10% of UK gas production, highlighting its growing contribution to domestic energy supply.

Origin and History

Serica Energy was incorporated in England and Wales in 2005 and has progressively built its position in the UK Continental Shelf through exploration, asset acquisitions and investment in producing fields. A major milestone came in 2017, when Serica acquired interests in the Bruce, Keith and Rhum fields from BP. The company subsequently became operator of the Bruce Hub in 2018, establishing a cornerstone position in UK North Sea production. The Bruce Hub, originally discovered in 1974 and developed by BP in the early 1990s, remains an important source of UK gas.

Serica continued its expansion through acquisitions, including interests in the Triton Hub and additional North Sea assets. More recently, its acquisition strategy has expanded the company's geographical footprint and production base, including its 2025 acquisition of Greater Laggan Area assets and associated infrastructure from TotalEnergies and additional interests acquired from ONE-Dyas in 2026.

Achievements and Growth

Serica's 2025 results demonstrate the scale of its growing portfolio. The company produced an average of 27,600 barrels of oil equivalent per day during 2025 and held 116.8 million barrels of oil equivalent of 2P reserves at year-end. On a pro-forma basis reflecting acquisitions, its 2P reserves increased to 138.4 million boe.

The company has also made a substantial contribution to the UK supply chain, reporting more than £1 billion invested in the UK supply chain since 2020. Its strategy centres on using technical expertise to optimise mature assets, extend field lives and identify opportunities for further growth.
