Luciano Vasques is an experienced international energy executive and the Chief Executive Officer of Ithaca Energy plc, one of the UK's leading independent oil and gas companies. He joined Ithaca as CEO in October 2024, following the completion of the company's transformational combination with substantially all of Eni's UK upstream oil and gas assets. Vasques brings more than 30 years of experience across technical, operational and executive roles in the international energy industry.

Career and Professional History

Vasques built the majority of his career at Eni, one of Italy's largest international energy companies. His career included senior leadership responsibilities across Eni's global upstream portfolio, giving him experience in large-scale oil and gas developments, production operations and international asset management.

Before joining Ithaca, Vasques served as Managing Director of Eni UK Limited. In that position, he played a leading role in the acquisition and integration of Neptune Energy's UK operations into Eni UK. Prior to his UK leadership role, he was Head of Central Asia for Eni, overseeing the company's interests in two major international oil and gas developments, Kashagan and Karachaganak. His career at Eni included responsibility for multibillion-dollar developments and complex international operations.

His appointment at Ithaca followed the company's combination with Eni UK, which substantially expanded Ithaca's production, reserves, technical capabilities and development portfolio. Vasques formally became CEO on 3 October 2024.

Leadership and Achievements

At Ithaca, Vasques has been responsible for guiding the company through its next phase of growth following the Eni UK combination. His leadership priorities include operational performance, safe and responsible production, integration of the enlarged business and development of Ithaca's major growth projects.

Ithaca has highlighted his track record of successfully overseeing and delivering multibillion-dollar developments and operations during his Eni career. He also sits on the steering committee of the North Sea Transition Deal, led by the North Sea Transition Authority, reflecting his involvement in the UK's wider offshore energy strategy.

Vasques has also received recognition through his association with Eni's award-winning projects and transactions. In 2023, Eni received Energy Council Awards of Excellence for Large-Cap IOC of the Year, Exploration of the Year and Deal of the Year, with Vasques publicly acknowledging the recognition during his time at Eni.

Education

Detailed information about Vasques's university education and academic qualifications is not prominently disclosed in Ithaca Energy's official executive biography. For that reason, specific degree, university or graduation-date claims should not be published without a reliable primary source.

Net Worth and Remuneration

There is no authoritative public estimate of Luciano Vasques's total personal net worth. His compensation as Ithaca CEO is publicly disclosed through the company's annual reports. His initial package included a £600,000 annual base salary, a 15% pension contribution, an annual bonus opportunity of up to 150% of salary and a long-term incentive award with a target value of 200% of salary.

Ithaca also disclosed performance share awards to Vasques, including 563,764 shares awarded in April 2026, subject to applicable performance conditions. These awards should not be confused with cash wealth or personal net worth.

Today, Vasques combines extensive international upstream experience with UK North Sea expertise, leading Ithaca Energy as it seeks to maximise its existing portfolio while developing a substantial pipeline of future energy projects.
